Attempted Fall Photo Shoot with the Fraziers

We tried to take fall pictures of the cousins this weekend at Poppa and Lala's house. As you'll see below, it didn't quite go according to plan. Peyton seemed more preoccupied with trying to eat the pumpkin or the grass, poor Reid was not in the mood to be sitting in the grass getting his picture taken, and Sierra wasn't too interested in smiling for the camera either. Oh well, these pictures will do a great job of accurately portraying this stage in our lives! Even though there isn't a "good" picture of all three of them looking at the camera, they still make me smile :)

Peyton's in her own little world.

Poor Reid looks like he's trying to save, "save me!"

I love how Sierra look s so concerned for her little brother that is crying. What a sweet, sweet sister! Peyton on the other hand seems unfazed....we need to work on her compassion.

What a ham!

I wonder what Sierra was telling that jack-o-lantern.

They look like deer caught in the headlight.

Just one more and then I can leave?

How's this?

Woohoo! Freedom!!!!

Me and My Bear at 9 Months

Peyton at 9 Months

Peyton's stats at 9.5 months:
Height 29 in. (90%)
Weight 22 lbs 10 oz (95%)
Head (97%)

Peyton is changing so much with every day that passes, and her personality is really starting to show! She is full of life! She has always been very expressive (remember her pouty lips, easy smile, furrowed brow), but this has taken on a whole new level. If you are within earshot, there is no question whether Peyton is happy, sad, or mad!

When she's happy, you'll see a huge gummy smile on her face, sometimes accompanied by her scrunchy nose and eyes, and you'll hear some of the sweetest laughter ever. She has also become quite fond of squealing...although, I'm not even sure it can be called squealing because it is so loud! She squeals when she sees something she likes (mommy, daddy, cousin Sierra, her stuffed animals, birds).

When Peyton is really sad, her pouty lip still comes out, but it doesn't happen often. She doesn't like to be in her stroller and have kids come up to the stroller to look/talk to her. This has happened twice in the past couple of weeks, and both times, her pouty lip comes out and she starts to cry :( She also did this once when I was dropping her off with Papa one morning. It was quite sad :( Of course, once she went to Papa and Lala's house, she had a wonderful time!

When there is something that Peyton doesn't want to do, or doesn't like, boy oh boy, watch out! This girl is going to throw some major tantrums in her life, I can tell already! She does not like having her diaper changed anymore and will kick her legs really hard when you try, in addition to screaming/crying. Once you stop and pick her up, she's completely fine. When Peyton is doing something we don't want her to do (i.e. pulling on the gate at the top of the stairs), and we pick her up to redirect her, she will arch her back and kick her legs while crying/screaming. A few time lately, she's also decided she doesn't like to be put in her stroller (even though she loves going on walks) or car seat, and she'll do the same thing, arching her back and kicking her legs.

Our little munchkin is full of life and emotions! Even though she can throw quite the little fit, she really is such a happy, sweet little girl that is quick to smile :)

She is also becoming quite adventurous and doesn't let anything get in her way! Here is a clip of Peyton climbing over a basket of toys.
Yep, she didn't go around it, she just crawled right over it! The shortest distance between two points is a straight line...smart girl :) She will also climb over us, if we are laying on the floor in her way. Earlier tonight, she climbed into a basket of books so that she could stand on them to reach something that had been out of her reach. She has begun trying to climb up the stairs. She climbed into a basket of toys the other day and just played in there (the basket was barely big enough for her, but that didn't seem to bother her).

Peyton is also beginning to understand a lot of what we say. If you ask her where daddy is, she'll look for him. Earlier today, I asked her where her sheepie was. She looked around until she saw it, then when I told her to go get her sheepie, she got down from the chair she was standing by and crawled over to her sheepie and squealed :) Later, she was pulling on daddy's hair while he laid on the floor and I asked her where daddy's ear was, and she touched it! It's so crazy how much she can understand!

We can't wait to see how she'll continue to grow and develop into her own little person!!

Peyton made these cards for us! Okay, so it was really Mary Anne, her nanny, but Peyton did lend a hand..and foot ;)

Future Ballerina?

Peyton loves standing and walking in her walker, but ever since she could do either of these, she's had an interesting way of doing either of these. She stands on the tops of her toes, not on her tip toes, literally the top/upper party of her foot. I tried putting shoes on her feet to force her to stand on the bottom of her foot, but her feet are so little, it's hard to find shoes that fit. She wasn't a big fan of the shoes, and I couldn't tell if her feet were actually flat inside of the shoes (I had a suspicion that her feet were actually pointed inside of her shoes and she was still walking on the tops of her feet). She's getting a little better about standing/walking on the bottom of her feet and probably only does it about 50% of the time now.

Doesn't it look so painful; I don't understand how it doesn't hurt her to do this. I guess she's just training to be a ballerina!

Scrunchy Face!

Peyton's had a scrunchy face for awhile, but a month or so ago, it really started to come out more frequently. It's pretty adorable, if I do say so myself!

Exploring

Now that Peyton is mobile, she is starting to explore...

hello!

Talking

Peyton has been saying mamama for awhile now, but she recently started saying bababa and papapa! We are still working on dadada, but she definitely knows who Daddy is! Here is a link to a quick video of her new skill.

Standing!

Peyton started pulling up/standing right around her 8 month birthday, and she LOVES to do it! She'll pull up on anything she can...even if it's just a little basket and she isn't quite standing up straight afterwards, but looks more like an upside down "V". It doesn't matter to her; as long as she's on her feet, she's happy! She has started to get pretty brave the past week or so and will only hold on with one hand, or she will try to go from one toy to the couch or to me. Sometimes she falls, but she's getting pretty good at it! There have also been a few times that she lets go completely and just stands for a few seconds. The only bad thing about this new skill is she now stands up in her crib, spits out her paci and cries. We think she may not know how to sit back down, even though she'll sit if she's standing at the couch or a toy. So, nap times have become interesting. If she's pretty tired, then she'll go right to sleep. Otherwise, she'll stand up and we have to go in there one or two times to lay her back down and retrieve her pacis before she goes to sleep. We hope she figures out how to sit back down soon!
