My Bear and Me at 8 Months

Hey! I'm such a big girl! I'm 8 whole months old! I'm almost as big as my bear friend!

Don't take my bear away from me for a whole month.

He's my friend.

Oh wait, what's that you say? It's time to eat?

I'm outta here! See you next month bear!

On the Move

Here are a few shots of Peyton on the move.

I love that look on her face...like she knows she isn't supposed to go into that room!

Baby Proofing

Since Peyton is now mobile, we decided it was time to do some baby proofing. The main thing we needed to tackle was a baby gate for the stairs. Peyton decided to help out Daddy while he was installing the gate. (Don't be alarmed by the drill or hammer in the background. We didn't let her get touch them ;) )

She read the instructions to make sure he didn't miss any steps.

She is so smart, she can read upside down!

Reading was a lot of work; so, she had to take a snack break.

What a great helper she is!

Texas Longhorns

The fall is almost here and you know what that means.....Texas Longhorn football!!! Peyton is very excited for her first season, and she has quite a few outfits to show her support!

Wouldn't she make a great model? She even has the logo facing the right way!

Peyton and Sierra

Peyton and Sierra spent the day at Poppa and LaLa's house today, and I picked them up at the end of the day to bring them home. On the drive home, I hear Peyton making a noise with her mouth, then Sierra makes the same noise, then Peyton laughed, then Sierra laughed and said "are you laughing Peyton?" It was the cutest thing! I cannot wait to see these two as they continue to grow up. I pray that they will be great friends!!

Things Peyton is Doing

Here are a few things Peyton is doing right now that I don't want to forget.

  • She loves to eat/gum/chew on fabric. When she takes her bath, I give her the washcloth when I'm done to let her chew on, and she loves it. She'll stuff it in her mouth, happy as can be.
  • She loves strings and straps. She has a toy, wooden dog that has a string to pull it. She will grab the string, put it in her mouth and then continue playing with the dog with the string still in her mouth.
  • She is very trusting when you hold her. She rarely holds onto your shirt or arm. Most of the time, her arms are straight out like an airplane.
  • She has started really kicking her legs, especially when she's on her back and on her changing table. It's pretty funny because she slams her legs down and just kicks over and over. It is NOT so funny when you're trying to change her diaper when she does this!
  • She still loves her sippy cup and is finally actually drinking some water from it!!! She still spills quite a bit because she likes to chew on the spout with the cup tipped over and water spills out, but at least she's drinking some too! It "only" took 3 months for her to figure it out!
  • She likes almost all baby food that we've introduced. She definitely likes some more than others. She tends to like vegetables better than fruits.
  • She has started arching her back like crazy. She does it when she's on the floor, when you're holding her (she'll just throw herself backwards), when she's in her high chair. I think she prefers to see things upside down...or she just likes the way it feels when the blood rushes to her head!

Crawling

Peyton still isn't quite crawling in the traditional sense, but she can get from room to room; so, we have decided that qualifies. About a week ago, she started really getting around well. She does an army crawl and is starting to get up on her knees more to crawl, but she still stays on her elbows/forearms. When she sees something she really wants, she will go after it with determination! Of course, she somehow know what she isn't supposed to get into and goes right for it! She is especially enthralled by Matt's guitar pedals and stand. It's pretty fun when I walk into another room and turn around and call out to her, a lot of times she'll come follow me :)
