Peyton's Room

When we first found out we were having a girl, I immediately started thinking about how we would decorate her room. Now, this may not seem like a huge undertaking, but when you take into account that I do not like pink and did not want pink to be incorporated into the room, it becomes much more difficult! So, I looked online and at stores for cute bedding that didn’t have pink but wasn’t too “boyish”. Of course, I couldn’t find anything I liked (did I mention I’m also a little “particular”? Some may call it picky, but I call it knowing what I like and what I don’t like). Anyway, I am incredibly fortunate to have a mom that is super creative and crafty; so, I asked her to make Peyton’s bedding and curtains! It took a little while to find the right fabrics, but we finally did! She also painted a tree in the corner and added a cute little owl (probably one of my favorite parts of the room and it was a spontaneous idea of Matt’s and my mom’s)! The room turned out better than I could have imagined!!

Isn't the owl adorable?

Thanks to Nana and Aunt Angie for the awesome tree painting!

Baby Shower

We are so fortunate to be surrounded by people that love us and Peyton already! Three different groups of people threw us baby showers to help celebrate her arrival:

1) Friends & Family
2) Current Work People
3) Former Work People/Friends (I may not work there anymore, but the friendships that were made in those 4.5 years will surely last a long time)

The friends and family shower was hosted by Tera, Jen R, Jen F, Jen V (yep,

that’s right, 3 different Jens), Carolyn, Kirstine, Lindsay, and my momma. I cannot tell you how blown away I was with this

shower!

The shower was extra special because Matt’s mom and Grandma were able to come in from Georgia!

These girls thought of every single detail…it looked like it had been professionally planned! The theme of the shower was birds, and it was carried out in every aspect of the show

er (right down to the music)!

I am truly blessed to have so many true, loving friends in my life.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get any pictures from Showers #2 or #3, but we had a great time and ate a lot of yummy food! Thank you to all my coworkers for their generosity! Thanks Katie for helping organize and Susanne for hosting at your house (which is beautiful by the way)!

Milestones & Memories

We found out that we were expecting on Thursday, May 27th and since my parents were in Washington, the first person I told was my sister, while Matt called his family in Georgia to give them the news of their third grandchild-to-be. It was perfect timing for me, because I flew to Washington that Saturday and I was able to share the news, not only with my parents, but also with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, & little cousins.

Matt & I made our first visit to the doctor on June 7th and found out I was already nine weeks along. My due date was set for January 9, 2011!

Just 2 1/2 months later on August 17th I first felt our little one move!

Then, exactly one week later on August 24th we learned that a baby girl was in our future.

On November 2nd we decided to get a better look at Peyton and we went in for a 3-D Ultrasound.
