Sweetheart

LOVE this picture!!

Nana's Visit

We were lucky enough to have Nana come visit for 2 weeks and help out while Poppa and Lala were in Europe. Peyton had such a great time with Nana (and Mommy and Daddy were able to get for a couple of dates and dinners with friends)!

They hung out on the porch, rocked, and watched the birdies eat from the bird feeder.

They went on lots of walks.

They played in the exersaucer...

and even watched the royal wedding!

Granddaddy came for a couple days at the end of the two weeks too!

Thank you Nana for coming out; we LOVED having you here and can't wait for your next visit!!!

Rolling Over Again

We finally got Peyton rolling over on video! Here it is!

Mother's Day

Today was my first Mother's Day as a mom! We actually started celebrating on Friday when Matt surprised me with these:

Aren't they the cutest cupcakes ever?!?! If you don't recognize the little owl, it's the same one that is in Peyton's room on a canvas bag that holds all of her stuffed animals and that my mom painted on her tree and my mom put on a hooded towel! I LOVE that owl!!! I have such a sweet, thoughtful husband :) He knows me so well that he didn't just get me cupcakes/sweets; he also got me my other love....that's right, Starbucks gift cards! I've been trying not to go there as much lately (to save money and all that jazz), but now I can go lots without feeling guilty!

On actual Mother's Day, Matt got up with Peyton in the middle of the night so I could get some sleep. He offered to get up with her at 7 when she wakes up, but I love the mornings! She is always so happy in the mornings! We had a great time playing, we went on a long walk, and we even fit in a trip to Starbucks all before her first nap of the day at 9! Once she woke up, we all went to Hopdoddy for lunch (yummmmy burgers!) When Peyton was taking her next nap, I headed off for a quick trip to the mall! We spent the rest of the day relaxing, stopped by Jen, Kyle and Sierra's to say hi and give Jen a cupcake, and ordered Chinese food for dinner! It was a wonderful first Mother's Day! I am so thankful that I get to be Peyton's mom! What a wonderful job!!!!!

Play Date

Aunt Jen and Cousin Sierra invited us to go to Amy's Ice Cream and this past Saturday for ice cream and play time (they have a nice playground); so, Peyton, Matt, and I joined them! Since Jen is super pregnant (due in just weeks!), she, Peyton and I sat and watched Sierra and Matt play!

They looked like they were having lots of fun!

Sierra went down that huge slide and mommy was there to catch her!

Sierra even got to ride the baby cow!

Peyton was tired of just sitting and watching; so, she convinced Daddy to let her ride the cow too!

Talking

Peyton has become quite vocal lately. She has been “talking” to us for awhile, but in the past week or so, she has really found her voice! She can carry a conversation for quite awhile. The two of us will go back and forth, speaking “Peyton”, for a minute. She also enjoys talking to the animals on her mobile, although she usually does more squealing at them than talking. She has a few different noises that she makes.

- Squealing – this is usually reserved for extreme happiness or excitement although it has also been used to get our attention when we aren’t paying attention to her (she is training us already!)

- Grunting/growling – she usually does this when she is starting to get fussy; it’s almost like she is warning us that if we don’t do something, then she is going to start crying

- Talking – this can sound like a few different things, it usually sounds like a vibration/gurgling in the back of her throat, or a “guhhh” sound

It’s hard to describe; so, here is a link to her talking:
